During the visit, the Minister visited various exhibitors’ stands showcasing the latest technologies in the area of Broadcasting. Of interest were the various companies dealing with technology on migration from Analogue technology to digital technology. The date for migration in the US is February 2009.
The Minister also took time off his schedule to pay a courtesy call on the Mayor of Las Vegas Mr. Oscar B. Goodman. The Mayor welcomed the Minister to the City and informed the Minister that the City delivers most of its income from gambling. The Minister invited the Mayor to Visit the Country. The Minister also visited the City's broadcasting station and was informed that Council meetings are transmitted life from the City Chambers.
While in Las vegas the minister also visited Hoover dam which produces power for the surrounding areas, checks the flooding of the corolado river and its water is used for irrigation in the drier areas.
The Minister also visited the KTLAS Broadcasting station one of the various TV Channels in Las Vegas. He was taken round the studios by the Morning Newscasters Paula Francis who was excited to meet the Minister having visited the Country for a safari |
